Haircuts and content suggestions

It's going to be quiet around here until the site goes to open beta, but I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for posts they'd like to see. A FAQ page maybe, links list, whatever you can come up with.

I was also wondering if anyone would be interested in a basic "haircut tips" post. As you may know I'm a stylist and one of my main focuses is giving quality haircuts to transpeople since that's an easy way for me to give back to the community. One of my more recent projects was giving a female mannequin a haircut to make her more masculine, it highlights some of the more common issues with transguy haircuts pre-T.

I'm open for any posts and I know that is completely not helpful. I'm a couple years into testosterone and pre-surgery. I've learned a lot on the different FTM and trans communities at LJ.

Saying that, a links list (on the profile page or main comm entry not sure) is good if it's kept up to date.

Info on binders is always good. I have issues with Underworks so any alternatives are good.

Haircuts is one of those things I think it would be good to have info on too. Right now I pretty much have my wife run over my head with the clippers but I'd love to know how to ask for a hair cut, what to expect, even something as simple as how to check out a potential barber (having never been to one!).

If I think of anything else right I'll post again.

One of the scariest things I ever did was walk in and get my long (nearly to my waist) hair cut short. I went to my local unisex hair stylist that I'd never been to before, armed with a picture of some guy I cut out of a fashion magazine, and said "I want something like this". Basically it's cut as short as possible without using clippers, it's about a half inch all over, and usually spiked up a bit with gel. Occasionally I dye it red, because I love red hair, but I don't do it often because I don't pass so well when it's dyed. That was nearly 4 years ago and I don't regret it a bit.

Can't help on binders I'm afraid, I use the Underworks ones, haven't tried any alternatives.

That's a cool cut. Mine is really short since it's a clipper cut and isn't anything fancy.

I used to buy Nabe binders but their English shop isn't open anymore, they made a really good tank top you could wear outside without a shirt. I had problems with Underworks both times I tried to order from them and since their customer service sucks I don't like supporting them. It took us several months to get back a double charge they did on our credit card and wouldn't answer emails. Since we're overseas phoning isn't easy & is more pricey so we rely on email communication in things like that.
